Moving & Packing Tips
Author: Terry Nichols
Since most people move not that many times in their lifetime no one is really an expert when it comes to the whole project of relocating and packing unless you are a moving professional. It’s just one of those things where you just sort of get on with it and throw things in boxes just wanting to get it over and done with. While this strategy can be quick if a little haphazard you will probably find that you can’t find anything on the other end of the move when you unpack as everything is a mess and more than likely you will have a number of items that got broken in transit.
A few things you will at least need to get you started on a successful move are as follows: Bubble wrap, marking pens, scissors and various moving boxes of different size, strong packing tape and paper to wrap objects. These items will be the bare minimum you at least need to have for any moving job if you want to come away from it with unbroken objects.
Pack items like you are playing a game of Tetris, I know that sounds crazy but you will fit many more items in a box if you are slotting everything in, in an organized manor that will cause little movement in the box during the transit. Remember! Less spare space in any box will result in items being spared from slamming in to each other.
The heavier the items the smaller the boxes to pack them in, books and objects around the same size should be adequately packed to the point where you can lift the box without straining your back or struggling. Use your spare suitcases to pack clothes in, it makes perfect sense right? But you would be amazed of the amount of people that don’t do this and leave their suitcases empty to be moved. Utilize what you have to your benefit.
This kitchen can be the biggest place to have a clear out. You might have old pans and cooking trays you no longer use and even cans of foods that have never been opened lurking in the back of your cupboards. Have a fresh start and clear it all out, donate or just get rid of all of it.
When you have packed everything then do a final walk through of the place to see if you have left anything behind. Our local movers can even help you with this to make sure you have everything packed and ready to go. If our moving company is needed to help you pack we can also provide this service for you, just ask us and we will provide you with a free quote. But fingers crossed with this information you will have no problem in achieving a smooth and perfect packing experience.
